This is the final blog post in the series discussing my recent plant diet with yarrow, so I recommend starting from the beginning with Part 1, then Part 2 but totally up to you!

Closing the Ceremony and Breaking the Fast

Since I started my 48 hour plant diet with Yarrow on a Friday at midday, then I was due to bring the ceremony to a close at midday on the Sunday. This meant that really most of Sunday was just preparation for having a celebration with Yarrow as a final thank you ceremony.

I broke the fast, as guided to with red berries. I also was guided to drink red wine but since I wasn’t sure if I had to drive somewhere later I think I gave that part a miss. It was actually pretty yummy to eat some fruits and they tasted so sweet!

Summary of Plant Diet with Yarrow – What was it all for and was it all worth it?

My intention was to get to know the spirit of Yarrow on a deeper level. I already know much about the medicinal properties of the herb and over the years have spent many a happy moment with Yarrow both in the field and the kitchen, harvesting, making tinctures, infused oil or teas. I have also used fresh Yarrow outdoors as a wound healing herb to stop the flow of blood many times as I often get a little too ferocious with my secateurs. So I already had some idea of the spirit of the herb but by spending these 2 days uniquely with yarrow, ingesting the elixir (and nothing much else) I was introduced to different, powerful and yet subtle qualities of the plant.

My favourite part was the feeling I had after the sacred bath I had with Yarrow blossoms. I left this bath feeling so energised and tingly and aware of each part of my body, so alive it was wonderful.

Fay and Yarrow plant diet ceremony

This plant came to me for this plant diet ceremony at exactly the right time for me. As always plants give us exactly the healing that we need for our transformation. Yarrow is a mover and a shaker, it creates action and movement where there is stagnation. I have really experienced the plant moving through me and helping me with the flow of things. There were many other magical moments over the short period of 48 hours, all duly noted in my journal such as poetry song, automatic writing, guidance from the Plant and also from the Earth, most of which I will keep to myself.

So was it all worth it? Yes of course, for a plant lover like me, a plant diet is another way of developing a relationship with a plant which brings in new qualities and opens us up to different levels of understanding and awareness. I don’t believe that plant ceremonies are reserved for the teacher plants like Ayahuasca, Peyote etc, our native plants in the UK have important teachings and deserve to be honoured and respected. Plant diets and ceremonies like this are a way of helping us rekindle the relationship with our plant allies that we have lost and remembering the wisdom that they are willing to share.
